Acinet Dry Syrup 457Mg/5Ml Suspension is a prescription medicine that is used to treat certain infections such as urinary tract infections which include inflammation of the kidney (pyelonephritis), and infection of the wall of the urinary bladder (cystitis), skin and skin structure infections such as serious bacterial skin infection (cellulitis), lower respiratory tract infections which include inflammation of the airways (bronchitis) or infection in the lungs (pneumonia).

Description

Acinet 457mg contains amoxicillin 400mg + clavulanic acid 57mg. It has a broad spectrum activity against:

  • Upper respiratory tract infections (including ENT) e.g. tonsillitis, sinusitis, otitis media.
  • Lower respiratory tract infections e.g. acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, lobar and bronchopneumonia.
  • Genito-urinary tract infections e.g. cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis.
  • Skin and soft tissue infections, e.g. boils, abscesses, cellulitis, wound infections.
  • Bone and joint infections e.g. osteomyelitis.
  • Dental infections e.g. dentoalveolar abscess
  • Other infections e.g. septic abortion, puerperal sepsis, intra-abdominal sepsis.

Dose
The recommended dose of Acinet varies depending on the specific infection being treated, the severity of the infection, and the age and weight of the patient. It is important to follow the dosage instructions provided by your healthcare provider. The following are general guidelines for dosing:

  • Paediatric patients aged 12 weeks (3 months) and older: 25 to 45 mg/kg/day every 12 hours Or 20 to 40 mg/kg/day every 8 hours, based on the amoxicillin component.
  • Neonates and infants <12 weeks of age: 30 mg/kg /day 12 hourly , based on amoxicillin component.
  • Acinet should be taken at the start of a meal to enhance the absorption of amoxicillin and to minimize the potential for gastrointestinal intolerance.
