Trihexyphenidyl (Benzhexol) is an anti-muscarinic muscle relaxant used as an antispasmodic drug for both movement disorder (dystonia) and for control of secretions (drooling) in children. In dystonia, Trihexyphenidyl (Benzhexol) relaxes dystonic, constantly tensed muscles and reduces dystonic movements.
How long does it take for trihexyphenidyl to work?
Absorption: The drug is well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, and the onset of action occurs 60 minutes after an oral dose, with peak activity occurring after 2 to 3 hours.
What happens when you take Benzhexol?
Some patients may experience drowsiness, dizziness or blurred vision. Do not drive or use machinery until you know how this medication affects you. Very rarely, this medication may cause: Confusion or agitation.
