What is Amoxil 500mg used for?
It is used to treat bacterial infections, such as chest infections (including pneumonia) and dental abscesses. It can also be used together with other antibiotics and medicines to treat stomach ulcers. It’s often prescribed for children, to treat ear infections and chest infections.
How many times a day should I take amoxicillin 500mg?
For bacterial infections: Adults, teenagers, and children weighing 40 kilograms (kg) or more—250 to 500 milligrams (mg) every 8 hours, or 500 to 875 mg every 12 hours. Children and infants older than 3 months of age weighing less than 40 kg—Dose is based on body weight and must be determined by your doctor.
Call your doctor at once if you have:
- severe stomach pain; or
- diarrhea that is watery or bloody (even if it occurs months after your last dose).
Common Amoxil side effects may include:
- nausea, vomiting, diarrhea; or
- rash.
