What does caustic pencil treat?
A caustic pencil (or silver nitrate stick) is a device for applying topical medication containing silver nitrate and potassium nitrate, used to chemically cauterize skin, providing hemostasis or permanently destroying unwanted tissue such as a wart, skin tag, aphthous ulcers, or over-production of granulation tissue.
How do you apply caustic pencil?
Coat the healthy skin around the effected area with petroleum jelly to prevent any damage then roll the tip on the area to be treated to transfer water from the tip to the surface of the effected area. Allow the treated area to dry before contact with any other surface.
